Pagadian City (July 30) – Zamboanga del Sur 2nd District Congressman Antonio Cerilles in a long distance interview with a local radio station said President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo clearly reported her accomplishments and everything she has done based on facts and statistics.
“Maybe her critics now will be silent – who always say that there will no elections in 2010, the President clearly stated she will stay until 2010 – at the end of her term,” Cerilles quoted the President. “As I saw it, she gave a hint by pressing the Commission on Elections for a full automation of the 2010 Elections. Up to the last minute of her speech she remained focused on her job, to include the amendments of the laws of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and other economic reforms in order for us to grow and prosper,” he added. When asked on the issue of Charter Change, Cerilles said he did not see any hint she will push the Cha Cha, instead she always mentioned economic revisions and set aside politics, Cerilles noted. The President called on lawmakers to watch and study very well what is needed in order to steer our nation to progress. There were no plans of overstaying ,contrary to the observations made by her critics. Cerilles urged the Mindanaoans not to listen to false critics who are always criticizing the administration. “What is important is something has been done and developments can be seen especially here in Mindanao,” Cerilles said. “It is easy to criticize and attack but the question is - what is your program if you are holding the post? I think is it high time for us to ask the Presidentiables - what is their solution to the peace and order problem in Mindanao? What will be their program for the majority?” Cerilles concluded.
