When my wife asked me how much my net worth was, I could think of any interesting answer. For a moment, I was speechless. I knew I could not explain my financial life; and I often get misunderstood for it.

At first, I thought she was interested of the amount of cash I brought into our marriage, but swiftly, I assumed she was curious about how I mismanaged my money when I was still single. And I was right. She kept on smiling when I relayed details of my previous lifestyle.

Civil groups boost peace efforts

The press conference called for by civil societies yesterday morning has drawn optimistic impression that peace in Mindanao can be achieved if panels and other quarters return to the negotiating table and work for true accord.

Sultan Maguid Maruhom, Executive Director of Ummah Fi Salam, Halil Salamat, Regional Chairperson of Mindanao Alliance for Peace, and Ferrer Marcaban of the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society, were definitive when they claim that aside from compromise, a requirement for harmony among Muslims and Christians is to unite and to work hand in hand.

Pagadian as relocation hotspot

During the late 1930’s, there were only 14 shanties occupied by the lumads of Pagadian (or Barangay Pangadian of Labangan). Back then, life was simple and passive. The first settlers only toiled the land to survive.

Sex scandal kills

Unbearably depressed over the spreading scandalous sex video, a man allegedly took his own life. A concoction of guilt, shame, humiliation and suicidal tendency would have led him to drink, Malathion, a common pesticide. Reports said he was brought to a local hospital, but succumbed to the poison.
