Twenty four lovely lasses from Pagadian City and 23 municipalities shall compete for the crown of Ms. Zamboanga del Sur 2009 as the province marks the 57th founding anniversary by a Megayon Festival starting Sept. 11-17.Provincial Tourism Officer Anthony Frederick Padayhag, in a press conference called by Governor Aurora E. Cerilles last Aug. 27, said that this would be the last Megayon festival for the last termer Governor Cerilles.
“We want it to be spectacularly memorable than the pasts celebrations for Zambosurians and visitors to experience,” Padayhag assured. The search is among the highlights of the week-long celebrations and according to Padayhag they employ many innovations like involving the regional offices, the academe, business firms and other organizations in tandem with the municipalities represented by the candidates.
Padayhag emphasized that candidates must be natural born residents of Zamboanga del Sur, at least 5’3” tall; must be 18 years old by Sept. 13 and not more than 26 years old, of good moral character, has not been married and do not have a child, articulate and witty and able to speak English, Filipino & Visayan.
The candidates are: 1) Jennefer Siton, 20, of Guipos municipality with Zamsureco-I as co-sponsor institution; 2) Jhemma Gomez, 21, of Margosatubig LGU partnered by Liga ng mga Barangay, Zambosur chapter; 3) Gretchen Mae Ayco, 22, of Dumingag and Bureau of Jail Management & Penology Region IX ; 4) Rachel Olarte, 18, of Mahayag and Sangguniang Kabataan-Zambosur; 5) Merce Lyn Abcede, 23, of Molave with Pagadian City Water District; 6) Joann Irish Tanaman, 21, of San Miguel with Department of Environment & Natural Resources IX; 7) Anjelyn Monieva, 22, of Labangan and Ogis Lechon Manok; 8) Janice Tiongco, 19, of Dimataling and Land Bank Pagadian; 9) Leah Beth Talibong, 20, of Dumalinao and DepEd Province; 10) Renelyn Wamilda, 19, of Pitogo and Midsalip Farmers’ Cooperative;
The 11th candidate is Genessa Torres, 20, of Dinas and Rural Bank of Dipolog, Inc.; 12) Cheryl Oledan, 20, of Josefina and 1st Valley Bank; 13) Jeany Rose Joromat, 19, of Pagadian City with PhilHealth Pagadian; 14) Richins Ocareza, 24, of Kumalarang with 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, PA; 15) Kesha Lumacad, 18, of Tabina with Liga ng mga Barangay-Pagadian City; 16) Dina Pacas, 21, of Lakewood and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples IX; 17) Daisy Baricuatro, 18, of Ramon Magsaysay and Dep’t of Interior & Local Government IX;
Number 18 is Juniza Edullantes, 21, of Tigbao and Soil Rich Organic Fertilizer; 19) Chrisnah Jane Tan, 18, of Lapuyan and Philippine National Police Provincial Office; 20) Michelle Briones, 19, Tambulig with Philippine National Bank Pagadian; 21) Merte Gay Soronio, 18, Midsalip and Dep’t. of Agrarian Reform IX; 22) Gemcel Heart Sumayang, 20, Sominot and Philippine Councilors’ League-Zambosur; 23) Jenny Joy adorador, 20, Vincenzo Sagun and Phil.Paramedical & Technical School, and 24) Kaycee Depita, 19, of Bayog and Contractors Association of Pagadian.
Municipalities of Aurora, Tukuran and San Pablo missed to have their own candidates.
Whoever is crowned Ms. Zambosur 2009 shall receive P25-T cash, sash and trophy, cellphone, and a night stay at Hotel Alindahaw.
Adjudged Ms. ZamboSur Tourism gets P20-T cash and the same minor prizes with the Ms. Zambosur. The Ms. Culture & Arts ’09 receives P15-T; Ms. ZamboSur 1st Princess has also P10-T and cellphone while the Ms. ZamboSur 2nd Princess gets P5-T and cellphone.
The Search shall be held at the Megayon stage in Provincial Government Center, Dao, this city.
Candidates shall face off in three rounds, like Talent Night competition on Sept. 11, 8PM; at 7PM on 12th Sept. will be the Long Gown & Play Suit competition and the Pageant & Coronation Night on Sept. 13, 7PM, all of the same venue. (Remai S. Alejado/Zambosur Press Bureau)
