Another milestone of the Cerilles Administration is an eco-tourism park dubbed as ‘ZamdeSur Butterfly Park’ at Provincial Government Center in Dao. It was formally launched last March 13.
The C-dome which describes the c-shape of the butterfly garden within the park welcomes any educational tour for students studying Science or Biology while enjoying the beauty of nature. The ambiance of nature of the park is also a perfect venue for family picnics, weddings, birthdays, baptismals, anniversaries and any big social gatherings. It has a land area of almost an hectare. It is just a walk away from the Zambosur Medical Center. ZamdeSur Butterfly Park is being established by Governor Aurora E. Cerilles conceptualized and constructed through the Provincial Agriculture Office headed by Marilyn Bersales. “We have at least five butterfly species identified inside the dome for the kids and even adults to have fun witnessing them hop from one host plant to the other. Starting March 14 this will be opened to the public and there will be entrance fees at P5 for kids and P10 for adults,” Bersales told the press during the opening. In fact, prior to this formal opening, we already accepted bookings for weddings and baptismal reception. We charge at P1,500 per event, not to mention that it already hosted the 61st Induction of JCI Greater Pagadian last March 8, according to Bersales. Bersales clarified that they only charge for the use of the venue while clients have to hire any catering services for the food. Governor Cerilles led the inauguration of the ZamdeSur Butterfly Park with Rev. Fr. Nestor Remasog who said some spiritual words and sprinkled holy water all over the park. Board Members Baldomero Fernandez, Flaviano Fucoy and Eriberto Sumalinog joined the Governor along with League of Municipalities President – Dumalinao Mayor Ace William Cerilles and the department heads and employees of the Provincial Government. When pressed where the income of the park go, the Governor said it would be under the Economic Enterprise of the Provincial Government. As to marketing strategy of the facility, the Provincial Tourism Office will take charge while its maintenance is under the Provincial Agriculture. Of the 64-hectare Provincial Government Center, 12 hectare of which has been officially declared as agro, eco-tourism complex by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for the Cerilles Administration to develop for economic and tourism attraction.
