Authorities at Pagadian City Police Station identified the victim as PO3 Dexter Dalina of the 905th Provincial Mobile Group based in Camp Abelon.

Initial investigations revealed Dalina, together with a private security guard Ronald Edo, were riding a motorcycle, headed for Camp Abelon, passing along Sagun Street. The suspects, on board a black Yamaha DT, were traveling at the opposite direction. Seconds after passing point, the suspects u-turned and tailed behind the victims.
