Whoever wins the Miss Zamboanga del Sur title would always reminisce the moment as no less than the actor-Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. together with Lady Governor Auring E. Cerilles will crown her.
“Senator Bong Revilla has confirmed that he will be here on September 14 to grace the Pageant and Coronation Night,” Governor Cerilles divulged Sunday night (Sept. 7) during the presentation and talent night competition of the 18 candidates for the Search for Miss Zamboanga del Sur 2008. The lady governor expressed her elation that the Senator accepted her invitation as the crowd, upon hearing the news was excited about it; muchmore with the candidates. Senator Revilla would be the third Senator invited to visit the province in a span of one year who followed Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri (who was here twice) and recently Senate President Manuel Villar. Likewise, Revilla would be the third senator to grace an event at the Capitol’s Amusement and Events Center (AEC) which still needs funding for the construction of its left wing. Senate President Villar (as Guest of Honor to the 2nd Zambosur Women’s Summit and 28th Jaycees Mindanao Area Conference last September 5) has committed P20-Million to Governor Cerilles for the construction of the AEC’s right wing. It may be recalled that the proclaimed Ms. Zamboanga del Sur 2007 Irene Monieva was crowned by Senator Zubiri. On that occasion, Zubiri pledged a P10-M fund needed to erect the AEC’s modern stage with complete amenities. Eventually, so far, Zubiri handed a P2.5-M check to the Governor last June when he attended the 36th Araw ng Pagadian. As to Revilla’s presence on the 14th, Governor Cerilles will likely let him know that Senate President Villar will sponsor the construction of the AEC right wing for him to also give his counterpart for the left wing. The project-oriented first lady Governor of the province is serving her third and last term is determined to finish her brain-child project – the AEC gym before her term ends. Remarkably, with the support of her husband-congressman Tony Cerilles, the Governor was able to source out funds to finish her dream amusement and events center. Definitely, this will be one of her legacies besides the rehabilitation and improvement of the provincial capitol, cementing of provincial roads, ZamboSur Medical Center, among others.
