Barangay Limonan, San Miguel, Zambosur is now a certified outlet of Negosyo sa Sakahan Laban sa Kahirapan, a program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the Department of Agriculture to establish.
DA Secretary Arthur Yap issued a certification naming Barangay Limonan through its Barangay Captain Roberto Mejos to be among the 12 Barangay Bagsakan (BB) outlets in Region IX as read by Director Francisco Ramos III of the Agricultural Marketing Assistance Service. Ramos was DA central office representative to launch BB in Limonan last Nov. 5 and for Diplo, Kumalarang Barangay Bagsakan on the following day, all of the second district in the province. “Gimugna ni Presidente Gloria ang Barangay Bagsakan program aron matabangan ang mga mag-uuma sa pagbaligya sa ilang mga produkto. Ania tanan ang produkto dinhi sa Limonan. Akong nakita murag pareha sa La Trinidad, Benguet,” said Ramos in vernacular as his audience were mostly farmers. Ramos clarified that BB will be there with or without “tabo” (market day) where buyers and wholesalers would invade here to purchase your products in bulk. He said that this would be the time for farmers to plant and produce more and DA will help them find market their produce. Limonan has been the destination of farmers and enterprising individuals as market bowl of agricultural products in Baganian Peninsula every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Taboan sa Limonan is spread around the Barangay Hall. It has 18 catchment barangays with 3,500 households. Neighboring towns include Guipos, Lapuyan, Margosatubig and Dinas. Regional Executive Director Oscar Parawan for their part disclosed that DA regional office provided Limonan with 2 chest freezers, 2 chillers as cold storage for vegetables or fruits; 20 pieces plastic crates and 3 weighing scales to supplement Limonan’s BB operation. Governor Aurora E. Cerilles, in her message as read by Provincial Administrator Pepito Degamo was pleased by the launching of bagsakan in Limonan. “Kini nga paningkamot kabahin sa tumong sa atong gobyerno sa pagpalapad ug pagpalambo sa negosyo, diin ang atong mga mag-uuma aduna nay maayo nga lugar kadad-an sa ilang abot ug produkto.” San Miguel Mayor Nestor Loquias, on the other hand, urged barangay captain Mejos with Bagsakan manager Peter Talas to manage it operation well, saying: “Ang kalampusan ug kalambuan sa atong bagsakan anaa ra sa inyong mga kamot.
