QUEZON CITY, May 19 (PIA) --- Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr., assures the air worthiness of all Philippine Air Force (PAF) planes.
Oban made the statement during the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Communication News and Exchange (CNEX) Forum. According to Gen. Oban, The AFP has a strict flight safety management in all of the PAF planes that go into the air.
“We do not allow the planes to fly without satisfying the minimum requirements of airworthiness of the plane” Oban said.
Oban added that the PAF has qualified ground maintenance crew that maintains its air planes and a routine maintenance check are conducted on all PAF planes.
When asked about how the AFP disposes its unserviceable aircraft, Oban said that the AFP has a strict disposal system and all the equipment being disposed of go through the proper public bidding.
Oban also said that based on the 1995 Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Program, the AFP is set to receive P331B for a 15-year period which is due to end this year. However, only a total of P 33-B was given to the AFP. Last update: 23-05-2011 03:09
